What we collect
Outdoor Conditions has no accounts and no sign-up forms. ZIP codes you type into a lookup box become part of the page address so we can show results; we don’t link them to you.
If you press “Use my location” on a UV index page, your browser asks your permission and then shares your location with the page only. The nearest city is worked out on your device; your location is not sent to us.
Hosting and analytics
The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes technical request data (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver and protect the site. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits; Cloudflare states that it “does not collect or use your visitors’ personal data.” Our fonts are served from our own domain, so no font service sees your visit.
We also use Google Analytics 4 to understand page views, traffic sources and how people use the site. It processes information such as page addresses, browser and device details, approximate location and interactions with the site. Analytics cookies can distinguish visits when analytics storage is permitted. In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, analytics storage is denied until you consent through Google's consent message; without consent, Google Analytics may send measurements without cookies. Google Signals and advertising personalization in our Analytics tag are disabled. Learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Weather alerts
On frost and water pages, your browser requests current alerts directly from the National Weather Service. These requests include the public location shown on the page and normal network information such as your IP address. They do not use your device's precise location. We temporarily store the alert response in your browser's session storage to avoid repeating the same check within five minutes.
Advertising
We may show ads served by Google AdSense. When we do:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info.
- Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland will be asked for consent through a consent message before personalized ads are shown.

Your choices
We use Google's Privacy & messaging service for advertising and analytics choices. Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland can consent, decline consent or manage individual choices in the consent message. Use the “Privacy and cookie settings” link provided by that service to revisit your choices or withdraw consent.
In US states supported by Google's privacy message, use “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for advertising. These regional controls appear when Google's messaging service is available for your location.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site works without cookies.
