- Not for safety-critical decisions. Water temperatures, UV forecasts and frost information are for general reference. Don’t rely on them for navigation, rescue, medical or other safety-critical decisions.
- Provisional data. Real-time readings from NOAA, USGS and other networks are provisional and can be wrong, delayed or missing. Sensors may be miles from the place named on a page; each page shows the source and distance.
- Swimming. Water temperature is only one factor. Rip currents, waves, water quality, weather and lifeguard availability matter as much. Follow posted warnings and lifeguards.
- Sun safety. UV guidance summarizes EPA public advice and isn’t medical advice. People with sun-sensitive skin or conditions should follow their doctor’s advice.
- Frost dates are 30-year climate statistics, not forecasts. Freezes can happen before or after the dates shown.
- No endorsement. Government agencies whose data we use do not endorse this site.
